We believe in educators and will provide resources and support for educators near and far to bring us their challenges, select programs or initiatives to bring into their own unique settings, and report back on findings to share with other stakeholders. We will give Louisiana educators voice and a platform on which to share it. The Learning Lab will host professional learning events where teachers learn with and from one another by sharing their studies, findings, and implications.
We offer the resources and support to place reform processes in the hands of interested educators, and even teacher candidates, as they work through cycles of action research. True scholars are able to question tradition and challenge authority (Jackson, 1990). The Learning Lab will give students and teachers opportunities to practice what lies at the heart of a true scholar: curiosity. Curiosity, support, and liberated voice will transform education by placing the purposeful and professional control back in the hands of teachers and students.
